New Grass Texture v 5.0

In this Quick Start guide, we will take a look at how you can set up and apply a grass texture to a landscape.Over the course of this Quick Start tutorial you will learn how to create, set up, and spawn static meshes to make your Landscape appear covered in thick grass. You will be introduced to key properties and settings that will help you shape your virtual grasslands to fit your project's needs.

You will also learn about the Actors and properties required for a grassy-looking result to function correctly and deliver the results you want.When you have completed this Quick Start, you will have a new level that should look similar to the image above.

In order to see the Grass system in action, we need to apply the Material that was created in the last step to the Landscape and then use the Landscape painting tools to define where we want the grass to be spawned.In the following section, we will go over how to apply our Material to the Landscape Terrain, then how to use the Landscape Painting Tools to define areas where grass should spawn.We will continue to work in the level that was created in the last step.

Depending on the power of your development PC, when you start to paint on the Landscape the editor might become unresponsive as the grass is spawned. This is normal behavior as the grass is dynamically spawned after you have finished painting. Turning down the Grass Density in the Landscape Grass Type while working, then putting it back up to the desired level when done, is a great way to help mitigate this as much as possible.

To remove grass from the Landscape Terrain, select the Rock Target Layer then inside of the viewport hold down the Left Mouse button to begin replacing the grass Texture with the rock Texture.

Grass PBR Textures is a set of 100 PBR Textures of ground covered with various types of grass with plants. You can also find among them crass textures in different seasons of the year like grass covered with snow or with dry autumn leaves or with water after summer rain. Each texture in this pack consists of eight maps: Diffuse, Reflection, Height (Displacement), Glossiness, Ambient Occlussion, Metallness, Roughness and Normal. All images are fully tileable (seamless) in 81928192 in JPG file format. This collection also includes material presets for Unreal Engine, Unity, Blender, 3ds max + V-Ray and SBSAR.

Kentucky bluegrass is the most popular grass used for lawn in the United States, and for good reason. It creates one of the most high-quality lawns possible. Its soft velvety texture, deep green color and tolerance to heavy traffic make it one of the best choices for yards, sports fields and campuses. Kentucky bluegrass has a dark-green color and a spreading growth habit. The most obvious identifying characteristic is the kneeled canoe-shaped leaf tip. It also has a prominent midrib (vein) running up the middle of the leaf blade. If left unmowed, Kentucky bluegrass will produce an open, branching panicle-style seed head.

Fine fescue includes many species of fescues which all have similar appearances and growth habits. These grasses are most commonly used in cooler climates. They are the most shade-tolerant lawn grasses and fairly easy to differentiate from all other grasses. Their most distinguishing characteristic is their very narrow, finely-bladed leaves. They can also have a lighter green color than other grasses. Fine fescue is okay to blend with both Kentucky bluegrass and perennial ryegrass in small, evenly-distributed amounts although it may be noticeable when concentrated into patches.
